A bright and well lit home is one that appeals to plenty of buyers-not only does a bright home seem friendly and more welcoming, but it also gives off the appearance of being more spacious and livable. Whether you do it yourself or consult a stylist for some help, the principles are the same. Read below to discover our top 5 tips for creating a bright and open house worthy home!

1) Make the Most of Natural Light

One of the first things all Real Estate Agents do at an open house is ti open up all the blinds and window coverings. If there are areas of your home where privacy isn't an issue, then it might pay to remove any window coverings that obstruct the amount of light that comes in. Remember to make sure your windows are freshly cleaned so the let in the maximum amount of light!

2) Utlilize Artificial Light

Especially in dark rooms, use table or floor lamps to provide more light in the room. Lamp light also helps add to the ambience of ant room. Experiment with different bulbs to see whether white or soft light flatters your room the most.

3) Limit Your Furniture

Display only the minimum of furniture that is needed in each room to avoid overcrowding a space and making it look smaller. If possible, swap out bulkier furniture for slimmer pieces or even those made of glass to reflect light!

4) Keep Colours Natural

Bold colours and patterns can make a space look smaller and might not appeal to the buyers. If possible, tone down your personal style and replace bold colours with a simple, neutral scheme. An all-white scheme will make a room appear larger. However, include some pops of colour so it doesn't look bland.

5) Declutter Your Space

We all have clutter, but knowing how to hide it or get rid of it is the key. Aim to clear away as much "stuff" as you can from every room. Keep the bare minimum and display only the pieces that are neutral to the space - remove any family photos, keepsakes, or anything else that makes it difficult for potential buyers to imagine themselves living in your home.

6) BONUS! Be Creative With Mirrors

Mirrors help reflect both space and light, and are some of the simplest ways to instantly make a space look bigger and brighter. Be sure to angle or arrange your mirror so it reflects the light from a window into the rest of your space.
